About Hue

Hue served as Vietnam's imperial capital from 1802 to 1945, and its UNESCO-listed monuments reflect this glorious past. The massive Imperial Citadel, modeled after Beijing's Forbidden City, contained the royal residences and administrative buildings of the Nguyen Dynasty. Scattered along the Perfume River are ornate royal tombs, each reflecting the personality of its emperor. Hue is also renowned for its distinctive cuisine, which was developed to please royal palates - don't miss trying authentic bun bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and banh khoai (Hue-style crispy pancakes).
